Design of aluminium alloy channel sections under minor axis bending

In recent years, numerous research works have been reported on the flexural response of aluminium alloy tubular cross-sections. However, studies monosymmetric cross-sections and particularly channel (C-) sections are limited, albeit their increased usage in structural applications. This paper aims to address this knowledge gap providing an improved understanding about minor axis bending behaviour C-sections through experimental numerical investigation. total 14 specimens made from 6082-T6 heat-treated were subjected four-point bending. Tensile coupon tests also performed determine mechanical properties examined alloy. The obtained results analysed discussed. A series geometrically materially nonlinear analyses carried out study performance two alloys orientations over a range cross-sectional aspect ratios slendernesses. utilised assess European design standards. applicability Continuous Strength Method Direct is evaluated.
